Dalton 1st's'Another first for Dalton ?' In what is thought to be another 'venue' first for Dalton CC, the 1st XI travelled out of the county to Moorfield CC (Widnes) which will be the home ground for Southport College this season.
Dalton batted first and were 65-6, but Chris Stockley's 23, John Stockley's 12 and contributions from two players on their debuts (Shah 14, 'Jigger' Patel 67) - the latter sharing an 8th wkt stand of 93 with Harvey Tonge (41) - enabled them to declare on 187-9.
Southport College made a decent start, but as the wickets began to fall (Matt Davies 2-16, Tonge 2-27, Asif Vahaluwala 2-36 and Shah 1-20) the result was a draw on 160-7.

Dalton 3rd's' Resounding 3rd's win at Rufford' Dalton 3rd XI's crucial opening stand of 48 (Peter Hale 24, Ian Chapman 27) belied the very low bounce of the Rufford pitch and after Chris Comerford's 10, the visitors collapsed from 81-2 to 99-9 before finishing on 114-9 (Dave Halsey 15no).
A good first-over catch by Jack Wells started the Rufford 2nd XI collapse with the batsmen failing to overcome the pitch and some fine appropriate bowling (Steve Parry 5-11, Danny Needham 4-18) as they were toppled for 30 all out in just 9 overs.
That 7 wickets in both innings were 'bowled', gives an indication of both the difficulty of the pitch and the necessity to get on the front foot. A fine Dalton performance from all their players and played in a good spirit by both sides.
